A mountain estate on the Serra Prelitoral (the coastal mountain range) of Barcelona

Mas Fonoll

Set at an altitude of 750 to 820 metres, it is a mountain vineyard of poor soil, with an open-clay structure having lime as main element. It is a vineyard in a breathtaking landscape of beautiful views.

The estate extends for some 40 ha inside a 200 ha of forest, with diverse sun orientations as it is located all around the hillock or Puig of Mas Fonoll.

Its altitude and location make for one of the coldest climates in the "comarca" (county) of Alt Penedès.

Mas Fonoll

Vineyards located in the municipality of Pontons at a median 800m of altitude with diverse orientations, around the Puig de Mas Fonoll.

A cold climate that retards the blossoming of the grapes thus favoring their slow maturation. Within our wine growing region we very often harvest around 4 weeks later than most other locations for any given grape variety.

We have chosen well regarded varieties from cold climates, such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Albariño and Incrocio Manzoni.

The characteristics of these varieties are very suited to the environment, climate and style of wine that we elaboarate.

Our soils are diverse, with an open-clay structure with a different balance of gravel and rock in the different plots. Mostly they are poor soils, not very deep and abundant in clay.
